The 'files=' line should be only set to 250. Perhaps having it set to this, instead of your previous '200' would resolve this problem?

Does the new W98 PC have at least 580k of conventional memory configured? This could also cause problems with running reports.

Could be that this PC is out of DOS memory. There has been information posted on the PlusCommunity.com forum by Dealers who have seen some fresh 98se installs where there is double buffering loading, this limits DOS memory to 480k!

They suggest using MEM in a DOS session to see how much DOS memory is available.

If you need memory, don't load EMM386.EXE or a DOS CD-ROM driver (device=atapicd.sys or similar) in config.sys.
