We are planning to change "picking sequence" for most of our products. Is there a way that we could import the new " picking sequence"?

Please advice

Thanks

Henry

Hi Henry,

There are 2 different places where Picking Sequences can be entered for items. One place is directly on the item, and you can import an Excel spreadsheet (or other formats) to update this information, using the Import Items function. When importing, ensure that the 'Overwrite records' option is selected and the 'Add new records' option is not.

The second place is from the Edit menu, then Item Maintenance, and the Picking Sequence function. Here you can set a different picking sequence for each location, or leave it as the default. These 'override' picking sequences by location cannot be imported.

If you don't need different pick sequences for each location for each item, then importing will work just fine. Otherwise changes need to be done manually.

Hi Henry

If I was in your position, and I needed to make mass changes to the pick sequence field by location, I would use a utility program called Zippy Import which works with the ACCPAC Plus (DOS) version of Inventory to do the trick. However, you may not have migrated from ACCPAC Plus, and you may not have Zippy Import, which is no longer for sale.

If this solution appeals to you and you don't have the utility program, you should contact your Adagio consultant to see whether he/she does. There are many of us who still have those tools in our kit.

If you want more details on how and why this works, please reply.

Steve

Hi Henry

I can't answer that question, other than to say that I have it. But I am in the US, and that puts me at a logistical disadvantage - all things being equal you'd be better working with someone more familiar with Canadian issues.

I'm pretty sure that Wayne has it too, because he has been around as long as me, if not longer. If you are really stuck, you can ask Softrak directly (i.e. by phone).

Steve
