I have Adagio up and running for my new year starting Apr 1st. All is working well however I want to be able to show comparitives for last year. I have an excel file with opening balances and all of my net changes for last year and would like to import it. Which import should I be using and which code will it show up under in financial reports? Is there any other columns required other than the opening balance for the prior year and 12 months of prior year net changes?

I assume you are referring to Adagio Ledger. Is this version 9.0A or a previous release?

Adagio Ledger has always maintained the previous year of historical opening balances and net changes - accessible from the Edit / Account History function. If this is what you want, you don't have to import anything.

If you did your year end with Adagio Ledger 90A, nothing from any historical year was purged, including the detailed posted transactions. In this case, there is nothing to import either.

Adagio Ledger 90A allows you to Retrieve Prior Year Data, so you can bring in data backups from 2, 3 or more years ago. Including Budgets and Transaction details. You can also import net changes and opening balances for prior year, if they are in an Excel spreadsheet.

If you are using Adagio Ledger 81A or earlier, you can import net changes for the previous year (not opening balances), and you have to make sure that all amounts are correct, as there is no verification that everything nets to zero across all accounts and fiscal periods.

Yes we are using Adagio 9.0A and we are a brand new install. We were not using Adagio in the past so there are no prior years. I was a Quikbooks user and I was able to export figures to Excel for last year and match up my new accounts from Adagio to old QuikBooks accounts. My file is ready to go but I want to make sure I have all the correct columns and that I use the correct import to put the figures into the correct buckets. Assuming that your last line is the import I use and that I'm not importing opening balances, how do I set up opening balances?

You'll find more detailed information on importing in the online Help for Adagio Ledger 9.0A.

Select Help | Contents from the main menu of Ledger. Click on the Import Notes link followed by the Net Changes link. This contains detailed information about importing net changes.

Selecting the SeeAlso link at the top of each topic displays other links including ones to the File Information, Field Selection and Field Defaults tabs.
