sing Terminal Server Printing problems in Adagio

My client is using ADagio OE, AR, AP, GL, GV and I moved them over to a Terminal Server environment within the last 3 months. They are a heavy OE user and we moved to Terminal Server to get the speed and performance of Adagio up when running OE & GV. I have a fair number of clients running Terminal Server with Adagio, but this one is by far the highest volume with OE transactions. When logging into terminal server, the server picks up all the local printers and picks up the default one for the session. This is being done correctly by the Terminal Server. When opening Adagio within the Terminal Server session it also picks up the correct "default" printer. In OE, all documents are being directed to the workstation default printer correectly - or so it seems. While doing invoices or orders in OE the first few invoices seem to print successfully to the default printer but somewhere along the line the documents will get redirected temporarily to another printer on the network. This "other" printer will be the default for someone else who is logged in to the Terminal Server for the purpose of running Adagio. I have seen this happen, as I was logged in to the client remotely to do some troubleshooting and one of their invoices printed out on the printer in my office. I wasn't even logged in to Adagio, just to the terminal server. - All the printers are network printers attached either through USB or Parallel external print servers. - the client is running the most recent versions of all Adagio modules - the Terminal Server has all the most recent service packs etc.
Any suggestions Kevin Belyea Spartan Systems Limited Saint John, N.B.

Hi Kevin, When printing invoices, is it that the default printer seems to be changing? You will need to set up a printer driver with a non changing name. I think that the default printer is being changed and that is making the print jobs appear to be printing to random printers. Take a look on this article on DABCC.com Web Site:If it isn't Citrix, perhaps a similar requirement for printers is needed to setup.

The thing is that the default printer does not appear to be changing. Each workstation retains the correct default printer but Adagio sends the print job to another printer Listed on the Terminal Server. Another thing that I should have specified is that this is a Windows Server 2003 R2 terminal server - not a Citrix environment

Steve I have no problem in moving this to the public forum. The more replies the better in my opinion.

The client is using the "windows default printer" for everything but the packing slip. It is the invoices that are being redirected to other printers on the network.
It is worth noting that when launching an RDP session (remote desktop) each user has the option of having the terminal server pick up their windows default printer or having a specific printer listed on the terminal server that is always to be used for that user. I have all of the users except one using the first method. The other user has a default printer defined on the server that is to be always used for them. This printer is a network porinter and the name never changes (nor does it for any other users). This user is experiencing the same problem and they only have one printer choice available to them when logged in to the terminal server.

Hi Kevin,
The terminal server creates separate session ID for each user log in. Every time the session expires, user has to log in again, session ID changes and attached printer sessions IDs as well (not only for this user). I would suggest the following: - Configure RDC session to be long enough for all business day - use specific printer for required specifications.
