Hi All,

We have nation wide customers with multiple sales reps and ship to's. Now order entry people are selecting sales rep codes manually and the level of mistakes is quite high. What would be a recommended way of attaching sales reps to ship to's?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Victor

Hi, Victor,

Salespersons are not maintained with the Ship to addresses in either OE or IN.

Salespersons can be set within the customer record and will then be used as the default when an order is created for that customer.

If this is done, on the Customer Template defined in Group Security, you could set the Salesperson field to be Skipped. However, you would be required to set a default salesperson as the salesperson is a required field.

I've put a suggestion in for a future release for you.

Instead of skipping the field, the template should probably be set to always require input of salesman. If it is skipped and the default is input, it's wrong very often.

Thank you gentlemen,

My probleb is not to skip the salesrep field. I have 1 customer 300 ship tos and 10 salesreps across Canada. I need to "attach" salesrep to ship to for reporting, commission, etc. reasons. Would be nice if I can maintain salespersons with the Ship to addresses in OE.
Any recomendations to achive my goal, workarounds?

Thank you
Victor

Hi Victor

A workaround is to create an alert (a pop-up message) to each ship-to address instructing the clerk to use a certain salesperson. It won't guarantee that the clerk follows instructions, but it should work pretty well.

You will see the alert fields at the bottom of the Edit Ship To Address screen.

We are moving the ship-to addresses into Receivables for V9.0A, and will include a default salesperson code in the record for OrderEntry and Invoices.
