I was hoping to get some technical assitance.

We currently have the following versions of Addagio products
AP 8.1A (070919)
AR 8.1A (070603)
AI 8.1A (070921)
GL 8.1A (070923)

I believe we need to update the Ledger to v9.0A, and with that comes a new version of the lanpack, also we need to upgrade the Recievables to 8.1A(070920).

We want to leave GL 8.1A functional and have it as a backup incase the accountant doesnt like 9.0A.

Are you able to recommend the correct way/order to upgrade these modules in?
Would it just basically involve installing ledger 9.0A to a brand new directory, and create a copy of the old database files for 9.0A to use and convert (leaving 8.1A where it is).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installing Ledger V9.0A allows you to keep V8.1A installed on your computer, but your data cannot be accessed by the older version once it is converted. You would have to make a copy of your data and "point" the 8.1 version at the copy. I don't know whether that corresponds to your definition of "functional" for your accountant.

I cannot imagine why the accountant would prefer the older version. The functionality he/she is likely to use has not changed much in the newest release. It's just easier to use, especially over the year end.

The subsidiary ledgers will happily send their information to the new version. The accountant should check to make sure they are happy with the information being transfered, there are lots of new options that can be sentwhen the new general ledger is available.
