The client posted the same A/R Deposits twice in error, using Bank Rec.
She next reversed one of the Deposits in Bank Rec, so that the Bank Rec was in balance and we were able to complete the monthly Reconciliation.
However, the Customers in A/R still show two sets of payments. What do we do to fix this?

Hi Samuel,

Reversing Deposits in BankRec from the reconciliation function does not generate any activity in AR, either creating batches or unpaying invoices. Creating an NSF entry in BankRec from View Transactions within Bank Inquiry would unpay the invoices - and you can delete any generated invoice batches so that no NSF fees are applied. This would be the correct procedure for the next time (should that ever happen again).

I assume the duplicate deposit used a different check/reference than the first, otherwise the company profile option to prevent posting duplicate document numbers would have kicked in.

For your client right now, they can create a cash batch in AR, replicating the deposit batch from BankRec but with negative amounts. This will generate the correct GL activity and add to the current amounts of the invoices; in their case, changing the invoices with negative balances to 0.00 balances.

If you reverse AP Vendor checks, this is the correct procedure for unpaying vendor invoices. It is (currently) not the right way for reversing AR deposits.
