Hi there,

Can you please clarify some minor technical questions for me:

1. When Adagio is installed without Accpac, what database does it use?

2. Linux compatibility?

3. When will online purchasing be available?

4. Windows XP - what impact will that have on Adagio?

Hello Suresh

FYI, because you are an IRP, you can email tech support directly at techsupport@softrak.com . You will likely get faster responses by doing this, although when our email is not busy, we do reply promptly to the forum.

1. Adagio will create and use it's own database if ACCPAC Plus data is not present (or if the User does not want to access the ACCPAC data with Adagio). To create a new Adagio database, you would:
a) Open the Adagio module required.
b) In the "Data path" field, type in the path where you would like to create the new Adagio dataset.
c) In the "Extension" field, type in the 3 character file extension you would like the new data to use.
d) Click on the "Create" button, 2nd from the top on the right side of this screen.
e) Follow the prompts for creating the new Company.

2. I am not familiar with Linux - is this an Operating System? As per our compatibility chart, Adagio will run under Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000 O/S's. Although it is not listed, we also know of successful installs on Windows ME. Adagio also runs in a Dedicated Network environment under Novell or Windows NT/2000 Server NOS's. It also runs on a Peer to Peer environment.

3. If you are referring to being able to Order/Purchase Adagio from Softrak "online" - I am not sure when this will be up and running. Our Webmaster is working on this, but I do not have availability dates yet. If however, you are referring to using Adagio as an "online" purchasing application, then please give more information. Adagio does not have a PO module. Please feel free to email our Webmaster at webmaster@softrak.com .

4. Windows XP is a new O/S. Although we do not expect any problems due to Adagio's compatibility with the newer Windows' versions, it is hard to predict future issues before anyone is actually using this combination. (If you are using XP - now would be an excellent time to test this out!)

Regards,

Softrak Support

Hiya,

From your answer re. the database, one can therefore presume that Adagio does not end on arrival of Windows XP, as it no longer supports DOS.

We have Windows XP on a couple of test machines, but have not tested Adagio on it. Will do so and report any problems. Will be hard to identify between Adagio interface problems and XP problems itself! Might have to wait for newer releases of XP. I fully intend to promote Win2K for at least the next 2 years...

Linux is an operating system - a modified version of Unix, if you like. I believe that it is gaining quite a lot of popularity in your neck of the woods, mainly 'cause its free.

Ordering online - I was referring to ordering Adagio modules online. What was that webmaster's address again?? :-)

Cheers,

Hi Suresh

Adagio is a Windows application, not a DOS application. It does not require ACCPAC Plus in order to be fully functional. Regarding Windows XP, perhaps the information posted on PlusCommunity (in the Channel area) would be helpful - you could add to this posting if you wish. Here is the url for PlusCommunity: www.pluscommunity.com .

(I will email you more information on how to access the Channel area.)

Our webmasters' email address is easy webmaster@softrak.com !

Hope this helps - check your email!

Regards,
Softrak Support
