Hi swhitney,

If I understand the setup you are doing, you are keeping the data on the older machine, and choosing to install the programs (including Quik Check for Windows) on the new Win2000 machine. You are choosing to map a drive H to indicate the data 'drive', so that when you open the data, the path will be H:\...

Here are a couple of things to be aware of:

- If you are mapping drives, sometimes it's best to use the Universal Naming Convention for indicating the drive letter. So instead of using H:\, you could use \\ServerName\ (where ServerName is the 'name' of the old machine). Should you be running Quik Check from a local installation (C , the only place you need to set this up is the data location when you run Quik Check.

- There are a couple of data files that Quik Check uses to search for the location of Accpac files, specifically the currency files and the EZTASKS.ld4 file. If these Quik Check data files do not contain the correct path, there will be errors. The names of these files are EZCURFIL.LD4 and EZCOMFIL.LD4, and can be found with the data. They can be edited with any text editor (Word, Notepad, etc), and simply contain a path to the \ASP directory (ie C:\ASP). If Accpac is installed on your local drive, then C:\ASP is correct. If Accpac is on another place, then you will have to enter the correct location.

- When you reinstalled Quik Check, did you install sample data as well? If so, then please try an open it. That would indicate whether everything went correctly with the program install and the issue is data pathing-related, or whether something did not install correctly.

- C:\ASP\ASVER.LD4 is not a data file, but an Accpac Plus program file.

Quik Check for Windows doesn't have to be installed in the same place as Accpac, but typically it's better to have all programs in the same place. Also, there should be no reason why Quik Check could not use data on a different drive or computer, provided the mapping was set up correctly.
