We are thinking about changing the item location code in Adagio ,could you please let me know how many characters this location field holds? also If we would like assign 10 characters to this field , what would be the solution for us?

If you are referring to the Location code that is in Adagio Inventory, the maximum number of characters the code can be is 3. This cannot be expanded due to the data structure. The location Description can be much longer (30 characters, I believe).

If you were hoping to create a 10-character code, you won't be able to do this - you'll have to be creative in order to fit this into 3 characters. Maybe something alpha-numeric like AB1 or something without all the vowels like LCT for 'location'.

Personally, I've not had a situation where the 3 character maximum has proved to be a serious limitation with respect to the Adagio Inventory Location code.

However, I have had instances where the purpose of a Location Code has been misunderstood to mean the place/position within a warehouse where a specific item is kept. In Adagio, the warehouse would be a Location while the place/position within the warehouse would be a Picking Sequence.

Having said that, Picking Sequences can only be a maximum of 4 and I have more often found this to be a limitation and wished that this field were longer.
