We have an employee accessing Adagio Order Entry and Inventory from a remote workstation, who access the programs by logging in to a workstation on site. Is it possible to set up her local printer to print at her site?

Yes, sign up for Gotomypc (http://www.gotomypc.com). Their software allows printing to remote and local printers. It works through firewalls. We have several sales people and people working from home who use this software to remotely access their office PCs. Cost is approx. US$16 per month.

You would really need to let us know what client/software you are using to do the remote connection.

As Andre suggested, GoToMyPC will do this but it does have the on-going monthly cost.

If you're using Remote DeskTop you should be able to edit the RDT connection and on the Local Resources Tab, Local Devices select Printers. When you connect to the remote PC and go to print, you should see your local printer listed amoung the list of available printers.

I forwarded your suggestion to our tech and this is his reply - any thoughts

Hi..in reply to the type of Client/software we're using: it is Remote Web Workspace provided by Microsoft's Small Business Server 2003. This is similar to the former Terminal Services, without having a Terminal Server involved. It basically uses the same type of VPN (virtual private networking) connection at TS.

There is the Option in RWW to print to the local printers of the Host PC that is being accessed but not to print to the printers on the Remote PC, except as a Print-screen (snapshot of the Internet Explorer screen). This is not acceptable output I understand

Hello premium,

If you want to print to the remote PC, you'll hav to you a different solution than what your tech has chosen. Both GoToMyPC and Remote Desktop and Terminal Server all work and have different tradeoffs.
