Purchase Orders for Adagio - Questions

We recently purchased, Purchase Orders for Adagio and have a few questions:
1. When entering a new PO or Receipt, you can use an existing inventory item OR create a new item. If you choose to create a new item, you get an Item Detail Information dialog box where you can enter all the info (i.e. Costs, Selling Price, Notes, etc. This is a GREAT feature. However, my quesiton is, if you choose an EXISTING item, is there a way to open the Item Detail Information dialogue box to edit the fields (i.e. Costs, Selling Price, Notes, etc.)?
2. I've noticed the Images set up in Inventory are not linked automatically with the Pictures in POA. They have to each be linked from both programs separately. Will this be fixed in the next POA update? When will there be an update?
3. Whenever we Post a Receipt, it says, "Do you want to Print the Receipt now"? Is there a way to disable that so it doesn't keep asking us?
4. When entering a PO or a Receipt, as you tab through the fields, it stops each time at the "Standard Cost" field and highlights the amount. You can't, however, edit this field. Why is standard cost listed on this screen and since it is, why can't it be edited?
Thanks,

Hi Susan, In response to your questions. We are the designers/developers of your POA module. I appreciate your feedback.
1. Yes, you can edit an existing or create a new item. This sounds like a security issue setting. Go into the security profiles for the groups, use the expand all function to see all the settings for all menu tasks, and check to see if edit is on for the items. There is also a second security setting for the forms (the second tab beside menus). In POA, we allow you to refine the security of the function beyond simply maintain and inquiry. I suspect that the edit for Inventory items is not enabled for your security group, while add is enabled. Review the settings and enable the security settings required (by clicking).
2.The images function connecting to Inventory Items has been in POA since inception (5 years). We store 3 images for each item in Inventory, if you wish to use them. A single image was added in a recent update in Inventory, and I guess the common link between Inventory and Purchase Orders to enable images was overlooked in conversations between ourselves and Softrak. We will review with Softrak and see what can be done. There is a new release of POA version 8.0 that has been released in limited trials for about 6 months. We have been tuning and making modifications with this controlled release. We expect a full release shortly. The images linkage will not be addressed in the next release.
3.Posting a receipt always asks you to print a receipt now. We will note this and see if we can change this in a service pack to give the user the option as a runtime variable. I understand the annoyance.
4.In the company profile, on your runtime variables 1 menu, your reference cost on the detail screen is set for Standard Cost. You can cnage and choose between, recent, standard, cost1, or cost2. On the same runtime variables menu, you also get to choose how the various cost fields can be updated with the net cost, cost plus prorated misc charges, etc. The cursor should not stop on that field because you cannot edit the field on the screen. We will correct. This is an oversight on our development.
Regards, Brian

Hi Brian,
Under what circumstances would a user be permitted to add a new item, but not edit one that is already on file?

You are correct Steve.
At this time you can not edit the item information on the fly, it can only be done through the Items button.
I've taken a note of this request and it will be considered for a future program update.
Thanks,

Thanks for the answers. We are getting used to using POA and liking it. It has some great features.
If you're thinking of adding new features in the future, one that would be very beneficial would be in Adagio Inventory, if we could see not only the QTY on PO, but ALSO, the "expected date". This was something we used in AccPac Inventory. The "expected date" was fast and easy to access.
When our sales people are on the phone with customers, they are continually checking stock. If the item they're looking for is not in stock they can now see if it's on order. This is great. But the customers next quesiton is obviously going to be, "when are they coming in". To find this out, we have to open Purchase Orders/Inquiries/Item Inquiry and look up the same item. This is comborsome and time consuming and uses more lanpaks. I hope to see the "expected date" show up in inventory sometime soon.

Hi Susan,
In the interim, a GridView "View" could quickly answer this question, and show the PO's outstanding for a specific item.

I'd like to download the video of Adagio Gridview's new features but the web link is broken. I'm going to try the evaluation version. Not sure if I should be evaluating Gridview or Gridview Server?

Hi Susan, Thanks for pointing out the broken link. Sorry about that. I've answered the other questions in the general forum. Take a break - it's late. BTW - I'm in Toronto doing an Adagio User Group on Friday morning. Perhaps I'll see you there. PS - Just checked Google maps - 2 hour drive seems a little steep. Perhaps next time.
