I already called tech support on this one and left a voice message, but maybe someone else has come across this:

We download two .CSV files (items.csv and orders.csv) from our Yahoo store and run them through a script that combines the two into a single files and turns it into an ACCPAC PLUS compatible fixed length text file. We would then use the ACCPAC Order Import add-on module to import the orders contained in that file into ACCPAC using the #6 template. Worked (and still works) great!

When I try to import those orders from Yahoo into Adagio Order Entry, everything appears to work (no errors, correct number of orders and items imported etc.) - but when I look at the imported orders in Adagio OE, the unit price appears where the item description should be. In other words, where it should read 'Grill handle', it reads '1499'. In the price field, where it should read '14.99', it reads '0.00'.

I checked the Order Import template number 6: The description field is 40 characters long, starts at character 43 and ends with character 82. (We do not import any imformation from the Yahoo orders into this field.) The next field is the one called 'Unit Price'. It is 15 characters long and starts at character 83.
I looked at the import file. The unit price in the import file starts at character 83 - and yet, Adagio OE Import puts the unit price in the item description field. Again, this works just fine in ACCPAC Order Import.
Bug? Error on my part? Did I miss something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, we'll continue to use ACCPAC order Import.

BTW, I had asked about this before: Is is possible to upload files to this forum? I think it be helpful. It's a closed forum, so I don't think abuse would be an issue.

Thanks,

Andre

Hi Andre,

There is an option on the first screen of the Adagio OE - Import Orders function called 'Implied decimal point'. It's purpose is to convert amounts from 1499 to 14.99. If you don't have this set, then it should be.

Also, make sure sure that the field width of the Item Description in the template is 40 characters. You might find the template has a 75 character width. If the field widths are not correct for every field in a Fixed Text layout, that throws off all other information that comes after it on the line.

I know. That wasn't the problem, though. I just spoke with Lee and she pointed me in the right direction. I had read that Adagio's Order Import templates match the ones from ACCPAC Order Import. According to Lee, that was true in the beginning. She pointed out that there have been changes in Adagio and as a result certain fields may no longer match between the two. I found out that the item description field in ACCPAC Order Import is 40 characters in length. In Adagio, it's 75 charcaters long. Of course, this would throw off any fixed length file. Because Adagio assumes 75 charcaters for the item description field, it put the unit price into the item description field.
I'm now going to disect that script that creates the import file and add those 35 characters in the order detail line.

You can also edit the Adagio import templates. Simply change the item description width from 75 to 40, on the screen where you select field to import. That way you don't have to change your script that creates the import file.

Hello Andre,

You can upload small (<100K) files now. We expect it to be used for screen shots perhaps. You need to click the Reply button to get the upload file link.

Thanks, Andrew! yes, I was thinking this would be useful for screenshots. Oftentimes, a picture is worth more than a thousand words.

Thanks again!
