Hie everyone:

One more question... ;-)

I'm, right now, converting our (apparently gigantic) ACCPAC IC database to Adagio Inventory. It started with items that were apparently added in 1997 and have since long been deleted from the database... or so we thought. I already noticed this when I did the test migration. Because that test migration took almost 24 hours to complete, I 'm using the fastest machine I have for today's migration - but it's still taking a long time.

Anyway, one of the item numbers I noticed flashing by on the screen was 'GP-70'. I cannot pull up that item in the inventory database because it was deleted some time ago. However, I'm able to pull up data related to that item when I run the Transaction History report.

My questions are:
Am I correct to assume that deleting an item in IC (or Adagio Inventory) does not delete its related transaction history data? Is that because that information is being kept in a separate file within the inventory database?
I noticed that after running the transaction history report for that item (GP-70), I was asked if I wanted to purge that 'printed history' information from the database
? Is there a simpler way to purge old transaction history data across the board by specifying a 'older than' date - similar to the 'Purge Item Notes' screen?

Thanks!

Andre

Check out the Help information on "Transaction History Report". This allows for a range of transaciton history to be printed then cleared. You probably would wnat to print this report to file instead of paper as the information may be old enough that you want to delete the file and you sure don't want a paper copy.

Thanks, David! I think that's what I'll do (print to file, then purge). I spoke with our inventory guy and he said he has never ever looked at the transaction history data in ACCPAC and he's not seeing a need to ever have to look up that old data in Adagio.

If I could submit an enhancement request, I would suggest to allow purging the transaction history without having to print a report first (file or paper).

Cheers,

Andre

Hi Andre,

The ICHIST file is actually the audit trail for the activity that has taken place. It needs to be printed before it can be purged. It is also the file that's used when you look up recent transactions against an inventory item.

Adagio Inventory moves it from a flat sequential file (which would take a long time to print anything) into a file with several different indexes for quick inquiries.
