When I am in Payables and I pull down the Adagio Menu on the toolbar and click on "Adagio Ledger", it tries to open Adagio Ledger 8.

Can I fix this?

What version of Payables are you running? Payables V8.1 will launch Ledger V9.0A if it sees it. Payables V8.0 will not "see" the new version, since it's not installed in the \softrak\alwin directory.

Is Adagio Ledger 9 installed in the same place as your AP81A and other Adagio programs? If not, then this would also be a problem. It's possible that the 9.0A upgrade didn't install to the location you think it did.

Here's a quick test - open your Adagio Ledger 9 program and from there, load Payables from the Adagio menu. If you don't see Payables in the Adagio menu list, then the programs are not installed in the same location.

Check the shortcuts you use for starting both Ledger 9 and Payables. In the Target and Start In paths, everything has to be the same up to the Program directory - for example, K:\softrak\Ledger\Ledger.exe and K:\softrak\Apwin\Apwin.exe.

I've seen someone who accidentally installed the Ledger 9 upgrade to the K:\softrak\softrak\Ledger directory, which also caused the problem you are running into. If this happened, then you would have to re-install Ledger 9 to the correct location and make sure the shortcuts are correct too.

I can open Payables from Ledger. I know they are installed in the same place.

Okay, Payables works now BUT TB does not.

Ledger 9 can open TB though.

Time&Billing is still version 8.0, which is why this doesn't work and still loads the Ledger 8.1A program, as Andrew described above. When Time&Billing 8.1A ships, then Ledger 9 can be loaded from the Adagio menu there.

It sounds like the loading of Ledger 9 from Payables is now working, which is great! As the shortcuts are all correct, now everything should be in proper synch.

When will I see TB 8.1?

I use this feature ALL the time.

Is there any way I can fix it myself?

Softrak has given users the ability to add tasks to the Adagio menu. Therefore you can add a "Ledger 9.0" to the list of options.

If you find the instructions confusing, I suggest that you get your Adagio consultant involved. And remember to remove this setting once T&B 8.1 arrives.

To add Ledger 90 to the Adagio menu for Checks, I had to make these changes to Menus.ini:

First, modify the Adagio section:
[Adagio]
GL=SSI Ledger 90

Then add these lines in a new section:
[SSI Ledger 90]
name=Adagio Ledger 90
data=none
program=d:\softrak\Ledger\Ledger.exe
Parameters=/u%u /p%p /d%d /e%e /t%t
Hint=Launch Ledger 90

Now I want to go the other direction. The company is using Payables 8.1A with Ledger 8.1A. They have Ledger 9.0A installed but are not ready to convert yet.

What do I have to add to the Menus.ini file so that Adagio Ledger 8.1A appears?

No, I need the full text. See the reply on 12/31 at 12:25PM for the syntax I need. For example, I never would have guessed that version 9.0 has to have the line "GL=SSI Ledger 90".

OK Steve, but isn't it apparent that the tag to the right of the equals provides the name of the section to get the program name and other information?

Then add these lines in a new section:

The new menu choice won't show if the EXE is not found.
