#10428 - 12/04/07 11:08 AM GridView Error - This function cannot be performed

Good Morning,

I haven't used GridView in a while and today I had a request to make a list of customer from Ontario in GridView.

When I started GridView and logon as I remember to do, everything work as expected, but when I click the new document button, I get an error stating that "This function cannot be performed"

I tried opening .gv files that I had last created but I cannot perform any action on these.

We have recently upgraded to 8.1A (070827), could this have anything to do with it?

I hope someone can help.
Yann

Hi, Yann,

You'll need to refer to your GridView manual regarding setting people up to be able to create or edit views.

The actual upgrade to v8.1A wouldn't affect this. It's a security setting that needs to be set up and was the same in previous versions.

You must start GridView using a shortcut if you want to be able to modify or create new views.

Thanks for the posts.

First, the user account can't be the issue because I tried login in with mt account and the sys account and either of them work. This is the way (I think) I was login in previously, nothing should have change in that aspect.

As for Andrew's reply, I am in fact using a shortcut, but should my shortcut have switches in it? At the moment it does not.

THanks in advance for the help.

Yes. It needs switches. Check the manual.

Hi, Dawn,

Andrew is correct, it has to do with your shortcut. Please refer to your GridView manual for information on how to set this up as it involves security features for the program.

Thanks,

Yes, you need to add a command line parameter to your icon.

Tech Support is being a little coy because they don't want to publish the answer directly for reasons of security.

If you start GridView and go to Help and search, you will find what you are looking for.
