I’ve know about this for years. I’m surprised it’s not more we’ll know. Would make a good tip or trick at a future AOC.
Example I alway use is the Truck parts industry. This morning a specific gear comes down the production line. At the end of the production line the part is stamped with an Fuller part number. Over lunch that is changed to a Rockwell part number so that the next fully finished gear has a different manufacturer part number. The carries on through all 12 major truck part manufactures.
Using Alternative Items I can create a cross reference to all 12.
