Good day,

Our new warehouse manager came to me with a question about the way items appear on their picking slips. The situation is their staff is running down the list in order: ie A11, B11, C11, etc. But the warehouse layout has rows where items in Column A are right next to items in Column D.

He is proposing that the picking list is altered to reflect the shortest path through the warehouse when their staff fulfill orders.

Now that I've looked at a couple threads on these forums regarding picking sequence, it seems that the solution is to edit our item inventory and restructure items to this A, B, C sequence. My novice question is can we instead alter the sequence to something different, like A, D, B, E, etc? Or this ill advised as opposed to editing tens of thousands of items? Are there any other solutions?

Thank you in advance for your support and support on other questions I've posted,

Sincerely,

Terrence
