Where are they trying to save the backup zip file to? A local hard drive, network drive, CD-R or DVD-R? Elsewhere?

The error message is indicative of not being able to write the zipfile correctly. Perhaps try running backup to a place where write-access is known (such as a local workstation directory) in order to determine if the backup portion works as it should in their environment.
