My guess is that the hard return now incorporated into your item number will prevent any solution that you could try from the data entry screen. You can't access the item by keying the item code as the hard return is causing Adagio to look at the next item number. To know for sure I would need to obtain a copy of your data.

This would leave a database repair as the only other option.
