Make sure that the antivirus software (on both the server and the workstation) are excluding the Adagio mapped drive.

One thing to test is to copy your data to your C: drive and try opening it there. I'll bet it will be blazing fast. This will indicate a slowness over the network, again likely due to the antivirus software.
