My guess is that your consultant is using the /XD parameter on the GridView command line to automatically send a View to an known Excel spreadsheet. You then open another Excel sheet and "Update" it from links to the recently saved GridView View. Unless you are very comfortable with Excel, my guess is that this is going to be too large a hill to climb without your consultant's help.

Why not start by just trying to create the GridView View you want?
