Hi bd,
If you've verified that the MICR font on the check specification is the reason for the print checks problem, then we're halfway there. On some sample specs, there will be 2 fields that incorporate the MICR font; you would have to make sure that none exist. There won't be anything 'hidden' on the specification in regards to MICR font. Simply preview the spec in the designer, and if you see any fields with the MICR, you can remove them.
Do you need anything MICR on your checks, or do you have pre-printed check forms? If you have forms, then this could be solved just by making sure there are no MICR fields on your spec.
Though we do not have an HP1200 printer here, I have worked with an HP4050. I also ran into problems printing checks with MICR using a PCL printer driver. I seem to recall (though my memory is hazy) that when I used a similar driver but without PCL, my check batch printed to the same printer successfully. Some trial and error may be necessary.
Your printing situation will probably be solved with a different driver, so you won't have to buy a new printer.
Hope this helps.
