You're also able to insert these lines in the order when you go back and later ship the items.

Or, you could turn on the 'Quantity shipped on orders' option which would allow you to ship the items but not post the invoice (you would change the radio dot to position beside Order). The serial line(s) will be added. If, later, it turns out you only ship 5 of an item and not the full 6, you can edit the order and change the number shipped before invoicing the first five. The serial number lines for all 6 will still be available though.
