So your first period is Jan 12-31,2009, and the second period is Feb 1-28, and so on. The thirteenth period will be Jan 1-11, 2010.
In the second year, the pattern will be the same.

Once the 13 period year has been created, you can edit the dates of period beginnings and endings in the fiscal calendar. They do not have to be equal periods.
