At the risk of sounding like the "software guy" always blaming problems on the hardware, may I add a couple of comments.

1. Are you running on a network? LAN problems can certainly cause data loss and other problems. Have your technician check that "opportunistic locking is turned off on the server. (He or she will know what that is )

2. If the computer's clock stops, that would seem to indicate more than a problem with one piece of software. Run the usual anti-virus checks and perhaps check the hardware as well.
