Hi Lucy,
I'm assuming you are using Quik Reports for DOS. If not the info below will not be relevant.
There are 2 typical reasons for unexpected 'duplication' of records on reports in Quik Reports. One is that the links on the report are incorrect, and the other is that they aren't actually duplicates but it just appears that way. My guess it that because your report is on Sales Analysis, the links is the issue.
When you have a report with information coming from more than one place (ie Sales Analysis, OE, AR, etc), then there has to be a way to relate all of the information, connect it all together logically. This is where links come in. It's a little difficult to say what the correct setup is because it all depends on what's on the report and what the purpose of the report is. Here's some information, though you may have to repost some info about your report:
- You can edit links from the Edit menu, and Links when a report is open.
- The Driver is the main file for the report, or what the report will be mostly based on. In your case, it's probably SRTRANS, or Sales Analysis.
- When you have multiple files, they have to be linked, based on specific fields (ie the way to match a record in two different files based on a common field). If the link is wrong, then the report can easily print records twice. For example, if you have Qty on Hand from IC in your report with Sales Analysis, and the link isn't correct, you could get the detail printed multiple times, one for each location this item exists.
- I can't really suggest what the links could be, as there are so many possibilites. If you go into Edit Links, and choose Driver, could you please re-post here the list of file names, which would indicate what's on your report.
- 99.5% of reports need to have a Link Mode of one-to-one, rather than one-to-many. You may have the wrong setting there.
I won't take more room discussing the other possibilities of record duplication. One thing you can do to track the problem is 'recreate' the report one file at a time (ie put in the fields from Sales Analysis only and print, then add the fields from IC and print again, etc, until you see where the duplication occurs.
