Hi Barb,
Yes - the check reversal is for checks issued in Payables. The NSF is for cash receipts processed in BankRec. Most banks allow you to download your bank statement in electronic format. We support QuickBooks, Simply Accounting (both of whom used a standard called "OFX" for their information) and a user defined import template format which handls most other circumstances.
When using Adagio BankRec, the cash receipts are processed there and grouped together into a "depost". The total of the deposit is consolidated for reconciliation purposes, although you can drill down and see the individual entries that make up the bank deposit. Deposit slips can be printed from the batch. The reconciliation process allows you to match multiple entries from the bank or the accounting across to a single entry on the other side to deal with the circumstance where the bank (or acounting system) sees multiple transactions, and the other side "sees" only a single entry.
You do not need Receivables in order to use BankRec. Cash receipts are entered as miscellaneous cash receipts.
