There is an error message: Unable to close currency [CDN] to department [ ] retained earnings account. What's the problem?

I believe that this results from using departments in your GL, and in the department setup you have not included the retained earnings account for at least one department. The error message is misleading.

Check the departments under edit departments (in Ledger) and update the department details for the R/E account to close out to, and then rerun.

There are no departments are set up in G/L.

Please e-mail me a backup (File | Backup) of your ledger data. Someone needs to look at it.

This data does not pass the Data Integrity Check and may require a data repair. Also, your retained earnings account is not set up to accept CDN as a currency (just as the error message says).
