I just set up an Euro account in G/L and bank account in Bank Rec, after I posted the transactions to GL. I found that there is an error saying "currency cannot be posted to account". I checked the USD account in GL and bank rec, which works normal. In GL, add a new account, I checked "account active", "multi-currency". For currency detail, Post in: specified currencies", default currency is DOS, same as our USD account. In bank rec, I set up Euro account: check currency code: Euro, Rounding currency, Euro, It looks like I set up the account correctly. I apprectiate your help.

I would check the ledger account and besure that multi currency is set on and that it is set up to accept Euro. What was the Euro currency code you set up? Did you use it as one of the multi currency codes that could be used for that ledger account? Remember to set up the sales, tax, AR control and the bank all to take Euros.

Jing:

The currency code and related tables need to be set up in the Multi-Currency module.

I found that currency code for Euro has been set up in Multi-currency. When I read the Ledger manual, it tells me to go to File, currency code. But there is no currency code dialogue box showing up. Why?

Thanks.

Hi Jing,

If you have set up a GL account to be MultiCurrency and post to Specified Currencies, then in order to post a Euro currency to this account, Euro must be added to the list of Specified currencies. In your origianl question, you said you set DOS as the default account. Is 'DOS' Euros? If not, the you need to add Euros to this list within editing the GL account.

If you have the MultiCurrency program installed, this removes the File / Currency Codes function. Instead of editing currency codes from Ledger or other programs, all Currency maintenance is done from the MultiCurrency program.

Hi,

It looks like everything was set up correctly. I went to Multi-currency,currency code, Euro is set up there. That means Euro is in the list of specified currenies? When I post the transaction in Bank Rec, Euro account shows correct amount. The only thing is it can not be posted to GL Euro account. Something might be wrong in GL Euro account. In GL, I can not change the default currency, it says "the default currency must be either home currency or one of the selected currencies. I checked the USD account. It looks same as Euro accountan and works well.
