I have a cllient who needs some of the features of Adagio Order Entry (backorders, commitment of stock on Sales Orders, etc.) but who also manages jobs that cover a period of time. The latter require the processes available in Adagio JobCost.

Is there any way to use both of these products together?

Hi Ralph,

There is no interface in OrderEntry to send transactions to JobCost. It is on our feature suggestion list.

You can use Adagio Invoices or Adagio Inventory shipments and associate a JobCost job to the invoice/shipment.

You can import billing batches in Adagio JobCost, so maybe there is some report you could generate (using GridView/Excel) and create an importable batch for JobCost. It would require editing the Excel file to include the Job/Phase/Category and any other required fields.

Thanks. I rather thought that was the case.

If they enter/import billing transactions into JC, do they flow to the G/L? (That, of couse, would "double up" the revenues.)

Posting Billing transactions in Job Cost doesn't immediately generate GL transactions, but running the Recognize Revenue function certainly will. Maybe there is some clearing account that you can set when posting in OE, instead of the real revenue account. Then when JobCost Recognize Revenue is done, the revenue gets updated and the clearing account nets to zero. Just how that would work, I don't know. That's the procedure that would happen if an interface existed between OE and JC.

A job is treated as a profit centre and not a stock item. You bill the customer (in this case Adagio Invoice is the prefered module)in stages in line with the percentages of work that are progressively completed within the job.
