Dear Deb
We had a report of this last year with a client who was using an old dot matrix printer. Here are a few suggestions to try to resolve your problem.
First, reboot your system if you have not done so already. This should be done whenever you have received a GPF error, as further processing could damage data or give other unwanted results.
Second, eliminate data problems by performing a Data Integrity Check from QCWIN. If errors are found, click on the Rebuild option & repeat the DIC to ensure any errors found were fixed.
Other things to check:
- Check that QCWIN is printing to the proper printer. From QCWIN File menu, select Options. Make sure you have the correct printer selected as your Check printer.
- The Windows' properties for your printer may have changed. Check to make sure that all the page sizes/types are correct for printing your checks in the Windows' printer properties setup.
- Make sure that the correct specification is selected when you go to print your checks in the Specification selector that comes up.
- Your check specification options may have changed. To investigate this:
- Open the QCWIN Check Designer from the toolbar menu options. (Maintenance, Maintain specifications).
- Select File, Specification options.
- Make sure the Orientation is correct (checks usually are "Portrait").
- Make sure all the correct settings for your check are selected for Paper size, Left margin, Length and especially Width, since your error specifically mentions the width being a problem. Click OK when you are finished.
- Now, check the printer settings for your spec. Select File, Printer setup and make sure all the correct settings reflect your Windows' printer properties re paper size and orientation. Click OK when you are done.
- If you made any changes, make sure to Save your check spec before exiting, then exit from the Designer.
Hopefully, these suggestions should work, but if not, possibly your check specification has become damaged and should either be restored from a good backup prior to you receiving this message, or a new one created based on the original.
Regards
