A client's data has customers with special prices. Some customer's special prices number in the hundreds.
The client wants to change the special price for a customer/item. They don't know if the special price for the customer/item already exists or not.
They can use the Find button to jump to the top of a customer's list of items, and then scroll in the hopes they will find the item (if it exists). But that's inefficient. Instead, they assume the special price does not exist, click on New and enter the information. When they click OK, if they get an error message "That special price already exists", then they know they will have to hunt for the item by scrolling. This gets annoying after a while.
The solution is for Softrak to change the Find button to allow for a search on a customer/item or customer/category instead of just on a customer. Or to add a tab on the Customer Master screen called Special Prices, similar to the Contacts/Shipto tab, and put a Find button on the tab (I realize there is no Find button on the Contacts/Shipto tab, and there should be!).
Until that happens, Is there a better way to tell whether a special item exists other than trial and error, or scrolling?
Steve
PS - for what it's worth, our favorite DOS predecessor program could perform a find on the item. I will send an email to Softrak with screenshots.
