Hi Adagio crew,

We are looking automate and eliminate hand typed errors by modifying the picking slip specification template by adding a scannable bar-code (E01, order number) field. When looking through the specification on OE 9.3A I did not see any ability to add a barcode based on a field, I was wondering if this is something that could be added?
Thank you,
Jason

Hi Jason:

I did this for a client a number of years ago.
The trick is that you need to install a bar code font on each workstation that you will print the Order from.
I think that the font we used is called: IDAutomationHC39M

First, add the Order Number to the spec where you would like it to appear.
Following this, change the font to the bar code font.
That’s it.
Note that you may have to experiment with the size of the field.

Contact me if you need assistance.

Hi Jason,

One more important part to add to Samuel's post. In the Specification Designer and the Options / Properties area, you have to specify which bar code font you plan on using. This is so that when you apply the font to the field(s) you want to be able to scan, the required leading and trailing character will be included to make the bar code scannable. Without the Properties setting, the field(s) will have the bar code font applied but scanning will likely not work.

Thank you for the specific and perfect help for the situation. I figured there was a way to do it.
I will work on this later today and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again
Jason

Hi Jason (and others),

Don't forget to set the Barcode font under Options | Properties | System in the Specification Designer if you need start and stop characters added to the field value before it is printed.

This is mentioned in the recently posted "Show me how..." series of videos on the Forms Designer:
