My screen defaults to "All" for "Select applications". Is there a way to change a setting to de-select "all" as the default?

No, but you can prevent the Retrieve option from appearing automatically under File | User Preferences (the General tab), if you are worried about users retrieving accidentally.

Thanks Steve!! One of the Accounting staff is only supposed to retrieve her own batch, so she has to remember to 'de-select ALL' and then just select her batch. She has accidentally retrieved "ALL" a couple of times so I'm not sure you're suggestion will help. Maybe I'll put it on my Adagio wish list.

Hi Holiday,

What default are you envisioning? A particular selection for the company that everyone gets? Or by User? Or have no batches selected by default and the user has to select the one(s) they want?

The problem with changing this selection is the fact that there are likely just as many different answers as there are users.

I've have a number of clients who want to use this same process so I would like to see the following added to the existing options "Only retrieve those transactions posted in any sub-ledger by the logged in user"

Hi Doug,

I agree there are many possible ways that someone might want to set this up. It's important to ask the person who asked the question what their request would be.

If multiple users posted batches to any given sub-ledger prior to retrieval, how would your suggested option behave?

If this option were selected, does that mean that sub-ledgers posted by other users would be invisible on the sub-ledger retrieval screen? Or just not selected by default? How secure is this option meant to be?

Currently the visibility of sub-ledger batches to retrieve is controlled by the file being greater than zero bytes, plus having a batch resource to be able to locate this file. Changes in this area with sub-ledger visibility could potentially be significant.

It may not work. But for me, it would be nice to have 'No batches selected by default and the user has to select the one(s) they want.

There would definitely be some challenges due to the way the current process works, including the fact that the sub-ledger doesn't even store the GL transaction with any user flag.

I suggest that you see what you are allowed to post.

AP Clerk only see those batches they posted. Not posted in AP by other users and not posted in other modules by other users.

Another option would be to post sub-ledger batches directly to GL rather than requiring some option to only retrieve those that you posted.

I'm not sure I understand why it matters whether Joe retrieves Bob's batch. If you select to "Retrieve by Batch", then you will get a batch in Ledger for every batch posted in the subledger, Joe can then just post his own batches, even though he might have retrieved one or two of Bob's.

Andrew

It’s a process that has been around for a long time. Though I’ve never recommended it many of the clients I’ve inherited over the years use this process.

For that matter, today why does anyone have to retrieve transactions from the sub-ledgers? A better option would be to auto post sub-ledger transactions in GL as they are posted in the sub-ledger.
