How can I add extra columns and / or rows to a SmartSheet and have those numbers add correctly? When I try to add an extra column or row to a smart sheet, with inputted values, it doesn't retain all the number values and formulas when I save it. I would like to include a 2nd inputted budget column for many of our departments, to show when the Board approved budget differs from the funding agreement in place (i.e. due to new funding agreed to after the budget is finalized, or amendments to the funding agreement). The Board wants to see the original approved budget and have variances reported based on that budget, but it would also be helpful for Managers to know what the actual funding budget is. Thank you.

Whenever you add anything to a SmartSheet you must do so with it collapsed. That might be your issue. Hard to tell without seeing the details of what you are trying to do.

This was helpful for adding a row with dollar amounts input by me that do not come from any other inputs in Adagio. When I add a column though, to be able to enter specific dollar amounts to rows in that column I have to expand the smart sheet. I leave that .ColSpec blank at the top of that column, and enter amounts directly, but it then doesn't keep the numbers I entered.

You mentioned using this new column for a second budget. Rather than typing numbers into the Financial Reporter (which defeats the purpose of the financial reporter in my mind) why not use the Forecast to represent this second budget and have the Financial Reporter populate those numbers automatically?

Thanks, I'll look into using the Forecast capability. The 2nd budget is a static budget so would only be typed in once - theoretically, if I could get the numbers to stay there - so it's not much to do (again if the numbers would stay!)

All "***Generated Rows***" are deleted in a SmartSheet when the statement is recalculated. This picks up any accounts that have been added to the various ranges.

If you don't want the rows deleted, then expand the sheet, and then delete the ".SmartSheet" from cell A1. However, then you will have to edit the statement if you add any accounts or departments into your chart.

Lyndon's strategy is better, and is the reason that Adagio Ledger has two "budget buckets" for each account. One is called "Budget" and referenced by a "B" in the financial reporter. The other is called "Forecast" so we could use the letter "F" in the financial reporter. However, the functionality of Budget and Forecast is the same.
