Version 9.1A. A client changed an Item from spec style A to B, and wants to propagate that change through all of their archive batches.

I know there is a function to Update Archive Batches, but I don't see that as one of the fields that can be updated. Is there another approach?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

Indeed changing the Spec Style on an Adagio Invoices item will not be propagated using Update Archive Batches. I can forward this suggestion to R&D. I think this would be the last field of interest that could be updated from this function for Invoices items, but if you have other thoughts then please let us know.

As for what is possible now, if you export the archive batch and then re-import it as is, the newly updated spec style will be read onto the new batch, as the style is always re-read from the item. Use either format 6 or 7 for the most information possible in the batch, and when exporting, choose to export all the customer/detail information so that the imported batch does not re-read the master records but rather the original batch info is maintained.

I think it would "safer" to use GridView R/W to make the change than the export/import route. But I will keep that in my back pocket.

This client groups their items into product lines and they print a subtotal by product line using the E201 thru E226 codes. One of their popular items has been reclassed and it's on hundreds of archive invoices.

Fair enough. But just as you had replied to another tech forum posting recently, GridView R/W shouldn't be the first suggested solution, especially since this is typically a consultant-only process rather than something the end user would do.
