We have two users getting an error message when opening OE for the first time in the morning: "Critical error [5135] unknown error creating application".

After getting this message they are disconnected from the network, and have to restart in order to reconnect to the network.

We are running OE version 8.1F (140930) on Win 7 workstations.

I searched the forum and the only other info about error 5135 referred to a problem with file EZSSILCK.LD4 having larger file sizes. Ours is 0KB so that doesn't seem to be the problem for us.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

In trying to solve this issue I tried running "Chksys" on one of the problem workstations, and then later on our server. In both cases it gets hung up (not responding) during the first step: "Scanning existing applications please wait". I let it run for over 10 minutes, and nothing progressed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I also tried to run an "Allwkst" to set up OE on one of the problem workstations again, but again, it hung up on the first part, while checking configuration.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, we're really not sure what to do.

Kristin:

When no one responds to a post it usually means no one has seen your problem before.

One question comes to mind. If these workstations were working before, what changed? Typically something has to change to break any software as software that was working doesn't break on it's own.

When you say "We have two users getting an error message..." I'm assuming you have other users that can access OE successfully. These types of problems are virtually impossible to fix over a forum.
