I am trying to change the bank in the 'edit control account' window and am getting this message:

uncleared posting journals and/or check register exist.
Control account set cannot be modified.
Print and clear all posting journals and the check register

all have been printed and cleared. still get message.

Note - one user was running a check run. she did everything except clear the check register. I then, under a different user name, cleared the check register. would that have created this error??

Yes, that would have caused the message.

Once the check register is cleared, you should be able to edit the control account.

If you have fake running Period End, it will tell you what still needs to be printed and cleared.

Did you clear the Check Reconciliation Journal?
If Multicurrency Database, the Revaluation Posting Journal and the Clearing Posting Journal also need to be cleared.
