When entering a new order in OrderEntry, Adagio warns if the customer is over their credit limit. A client would like the system to warn if a customer has a past due invoice as well.

This was available as an add-on in the DOS world. Is there anything available like this in the Adagio world?

I believe this works:

In AR use the Calculate customer aging to put past due customers on hold. For the credit check option turn on warn if on hold. To go along with this I highly recommend also turning on the warn if on hold option during cash entry (to make sure that you remember to take them off hold when they pay their bill).

I had come to that conclusion too, and it does work, although putting a customer on hold simply to produce a warning is pretty drastic because there is no flexibility. Also, someone must remember to run the function, which is not as nice as if the warning appeared on its own.

Softrak - consider as a suggestion the possibility of enhancing the Alert functionality so that alerts can pop (i.e. be made active/inactive) based on certain criteria (such as whether a customer is past due)

You can have Calculate Customer Aging run automatically once a day by setting it to start under File | User preferences. It will only run once per day. It also takes companies off hold and produces an audit list of changes. Creating a Filter of overdue customers would allow a quick review of the on hold status.

Does it run once per day when the user opens AR? Since it needs exclusive use of AR data, can it be auto run after hours with a scheduled task? Can it be run once a week instead of once a day? Can the On Hold style be saved so that it doesn't have to be re-selected every time?

Since it needs exclusive use of AR data, can it be auto run after hours with a scheduled task? Yes, with Adagio Console installed which allows automation of many functions in all the Adagio modules. There's a webinar on Thursday showing this.

Can it be run once a week instead of once a day? Sure. The user has an opportunity to skip the process.

Can the On Hold style be saved so that it doesn't have to be re-selected every time? Yes. Defined a Filter with the Style you want for On Hold customers and give it a fairly high priority.

Does this all make sense?
