I went through my release notes but don't see anything pertaining to unposting a batch. Now that there is not printing and purging during the year of the posting journals what is the procedure for unposting batches.

I recently attempted to unpost a batch and of course I needed to print and post my journals. This was not an option.

I recovered the batch and moved on so just wanted to know if this is the approach I need to take from now on.

Hi PwC,

Unposting batches in Adagio Ledger continues to work in the same way it always has, since version 9.0A. A single Ledger batch may be unposted, and if you choose to Delete records from the Posted Transactions file as part of the unpost, then an 'unpost' journal will be created, and must be printed/purged in order to unpost another batch. If you don't choose to Delete Posted Transactions, then no unpost journal is created.

The Recover batch function has been enhanced in Adagio Ledger 9.1A and can be used to create a copy of a deleted or posted batch. Recover batches cannot be used to delete posted transactions, and if this is desired then the Unpost Batch function must be used.

Ok well I have some more investigating to do since there are no batches to print and clear yet everytime I try to unpost a batch it is giving me that message that I need to print and clear all posting journals first.

Will get back to you on this.

You need to print/purge the 'Unposting journal', not the standard Current/Next Year Batch posting journals.
The menu choice is Post -> Print Posting Journals -> Print Unpost Journal.
The print screen will have 'Unpost' as the journal type, and the sequence number to print/purge.

Adagio Ledger 9.1A will have a bold message on the screen that 'There is no posting journal to print' if there is no data file or if no posting journal is expected to be there.

Sorry this having problems with this. Trying to unpost a batch and still no option of posting sequence comes up. As you instructed I tried printing and clearing the Unpost Journals. Please see the attached as to what the screen is showing me.

Two other clients have called with this issue. Please point me in the write direction.

The unpost journal report does not show a posting sequence because there can only ever be a single sequence at a time, and you do not have a choice of which sequence(s) to print or purge. No posting sequence is maintained for unposting batches. If this is what you are concerned about, then this is not a problem.

The screen picture you attached shows the 'Next Fiscal Year' 2012 selected, which I presume is where the most recent batch unposting occurred. And because there is no text on this screen that says 'there is no posting journal to print', then there is an unpost journal in the data. Click the Preview button to see the report contents. You must print this report either to paper or a file (not preview) in order to get the question 'Do you want to clear the unpost journal?' and choose Yes complete the purging.
