Is there an option for us to set up an alert message to remind staff to check on product cost and salesperson code or another other fields that they must remember to verify before finalizing the orders in OE?

Hi Kitty,

The alerts in Order Entry work very well and are driven by either the customer code and/or the item code. At the same time, there is nothing that flags or alerts staff to be generally diligent when completing a sales order.

Certain fields such as Sales Person must be filled to complete the order, and we can put warnings on the items to not sell items below cost or when out of stock, but if people are forgetting to verify the details before finalizing, this is really a procedural or training issue.

If there was a common item that was being considered for most orders (that needed verification), you could add an alert to that item and it would be a pop-up alert when you selected that item in the order.

Best,
Brian

Hi Kitty

Nobody pays attention to general alerts after the first day, unless the wording is changed regularly and the message is interesting enough to read. You should find another way to remind your staff.

Hello Kitty:
It's always better to prevent mistakes than to fix them later. But if that's not easily done as Brian and Steve point out, an alternative is to police the accuracy of the data. A GridView report could be run at the end of the day to look for specific problems (i.e. blank salesperson codes). Of course, this approach only works in certain environments. If you enter Orders and invoice them the same day, it's not going to help because it will be too late to correct mistakes.
