We are in the US and considering switching from our in-house payroll,which is compatible with Adagio, to ADP, the giant payroll processing company. The salesperson says the GL retrieval is easily done; can anyone confirm this or otherwise comment on the interface of ADP with Adagio ledger?

I have done this in the distant path. It is doable, but requires considerable setup. You would have to provide ADP with your chart of accunts and for every employee's earning, deduction and tax detail, tell them which account/department to link to. Then ADP will create an importable file for you to import into the GL, which takes trial and error until they match the required format.

Since I know your setup pretty well, I might add that ADP will not automatically compute the accrued worker's compensation expense, let alone include it in the GL file.

Also, ADP charges you extra for this service on top of its regular fees.

Just my 2c...having worked on this with ADP in the past, they aren't very good at it and their long response cycle to issues results in many a manually entered GL payroll batch.

We are in the process of converting a client from ADP to an in-house payroll program because ADP could never give them the GL detail that they require.
