OE Picking Slips-Reprint does not stay flagged

In OE, for the Picking Slips: In the past we were able to check off Reprint orders already printed, and the screen would remember this setting. (Most of the time we would like this field flagged as TRUE.)
With the most current OE service pack, it appears that this no longer works.
Is there some way to have the screen remember this setting?

Hi Sam,
It was pointed out to us that in many organizations, the printing of a picking slip generates activity in the warehouse and often results in the shipping of an order. The request we implemented was that it be an explicit command to reprint a picking slip.
I don't see us changing the behaviour back.

Andrew, if that is the case so be it.
It is just that in the past, that option was present in that once the field was checked off, it remained so. One of my users was asking about this.
I do however see your point. (Another organization mentioned that they have occasionally messed up by shipping out the same Order twice, because they printed the Picking Slip at two separate intervals. This may help to minimize this problem.)

Hi Sam,
We pressed for this service pack feature change in light of today's operational situations where pick slips are printed on printers in warehouses away from Order Entry, in busy environments.
Specifically, in many if not most client distribution sites using Order Entry, if you wish to print a specific Pick Slip for an order from the order grid, you really want to print it now and update the print status immediately, without a confirmation (did it print OK?).
I suppose there's an argument that says you shouldn't be updating the print status unless confirmed or rely on the print status flag to not allow you to print an already printed pick slip for this selected order but with colour status and print status available on the grid, it should be evident to the sales order processor.
The print status flag setting is still saved in the batch or bulk printing processing of forms (as previously) where you print all unprinted pick slips truly rely on the print status of forms to skip already printed forms such as pick slips.
In some of our client sites processing 200 - 500 orders daily, the delay in updating the print status and dealing with the saved flag was resulting in daily situations of duplicated pick slips. So with this changed feature for a selected order, if you want to print or reprint an order pick slip, on the order grid you select print and if the order is not already completed, the pick slip prints.
It may require training or informing sites of this new feature, but assuming all sites are now showing the print status (with the words) on the order grid, the potential duplication caused by printing an already printed pickslip should be very low.
Best, Brian

I installed the OE Service Pack 8.1D (2011.09.29) on the weekend and now staff are reporting they can't print because there is "nothing in range to print". We figured out that we have to select "Reprint orders already printed" to solve this. After reading Brian's explanation I think it can work for us. We recently implemented a procedure where we use the Print Status to determine what stage the order is at. Confirmations are Back Orders waiting for product to arrive before they can be processed. Pick Slips are in process for picking and shipping. When Back Order product arrives, we re-print as a Pick Slip so that it is newly understood to be an order that needs to be processed and shipped.
The new feature in OE only prevents us from printing the same thing twice, but it still allows us to print an order previously printed as a Confirmation to Pick Slip. This may actually help us not to duplicate paperwork once everyone here understands it.

Hi Susan,
Yes, Brian's observation made sense to us too.

We have some clients that are not strict about the number of times a picking slip is printed and they find it a little disruptive. Is it possible to remember those settings at will? Before it was remembering always, now it doesn't remember at all. It will be helpful to have an option in the Company Profile or User settings to remember these specific report settings.

Hi Patricia,
I think that there are already too many options regarding the way OrderEntry behaves. Here, the client clicks the "Print" button and is told there is nothing to print. They then enable the reprint option and click the button again. Surely that's not too disruptive.
