Hi All,

We have an issue with our remote users on our terminal servers not closing down Gridview so the admin staff can do their backup at 4:30 everyday. Right now we either call them to get them off, go onto the accounting server and close the open files or login over them on the TS and close GV.

My proposed solution is to run a program (vb.net) at 4:30 (task scheduler on the TS) which will identify the GVWIN proceses that are being run and kill them. It is a simple program and works fine (tested on notepad.exe).

I don't think killing the process this way will effect data integrity as my understanding is that GV is a read only program but I thought I would check to make sure before we implement it.

Cheers,

We see no problems with you killing the GVWin process. If the user was in the middle of designing a View their work will be lost.

Thanks Michael. This will only be for users that do not do any design of their views.
