Cannot enter cheque number with a letter into Bank Rec anymore?

I don't think we've changed anything here recently, but I'm sure it's respecting the setting in the Adagio Payables company profile, on the Batch/Vendor tab:

Thank you, it must have changed when I did the updates changed my settings.

sorry I went and checked that and it still does not accept a letter for a cheque number when i am keying in my bank batch it will accept a letter when I am keying bank receipt entry but not when I am recording the payment

Are we talking about deposits (cash receipts) or payments?
