Is there any setting that I need to select to make optional fields permanatly shown in AR & OE? I need them when editing customers in OE and AR, as well as showing in orders in OE. Twice now I have set them up in company profile for OE & AR, and they have defaulted back to blank after a day or so. I suspect this must be sopmthing I'm doing wrong, but don't know what else to try.

Hello Kristin,

What you are describing is very unusual behaviour. If you look at he Sample Data that ships with Adagio, do you see the Optional Fields that were defined for those modules ? If so, it would mean that they have remained on your system for an extended period of time without defaulting back to blank.

The only things that I could think of would cause the fields to "default back to blank" would be:
1. if your data had been restored - but this should have far worse implications as all data subsequent to the restore point would disappear as well, or
2. if someone else went back into the Company Profile and removed the entries you had made. Do you use security on this company ? if not, maybe you should and prevent others from accessing the Company Profile and other setup/configuration areas as well.

Pete

Also, field with the same name are shared across modules. That's why they are maintained under File | Optional fields.

I'm also not sure I understand what's actually happening to you. Do the fields themselves disappear from the entry form, or the values stored in the fields for a specific customer (or item).

The fields themselves dissappeared. I had set them up via the AR company profile, and when I noticed they were no longer available in Edit Customers in AR, I reopened the profile and nothing was defined in the optional fields tab. Since I have reentered the field names they seem to be staying, so perhaps it was a glitch and is working now...
