When doing an upgrade, the CRs and GVs may need to be updated as well. IF using Verify Database in CR doesn't produce an error, where can I find information to find out if there has been changes in a dictionary that I need to be aware of?

I just found out that an IC Item table has now an additional field for the active flag for 8.1C. The reports were not showing all the items because the filter was the prior Active flag field and it didn't contain current information.

Hi Patricia,

For Adagio upgrades - as opposed to service packs - the Readme file or the Release notes is a great place to see what changes have occurred for a new version. Especially the link 'Upgrading to this version' in the Important Notes section.

Typically, if using an upgraded version prompts for a data conversion the first time you use it, you can be sure that the data structure is changing.

The DataDictionaryExporter.exe utility should be run when a new upgrade is installed, as it will create the most up to date dictionary list with field lists and lookup tables.

I do not believe the readme for IC specifically highlighted that the lookup table values for the Active Status field for the Items table changed, and what the new values are. Would technical information such as this be useful to you when a new upgrade is released?

It would be very useful that dictionary changes are identified individually. It is an impossible task to revise the entire new dictionary looking for new or modified fields.

In the spreadsheet created by dictionary export application, the Active flag doesn't show the values for the field. In this case, I also think this is important information. Specially, if the values of the field have changed.

Hi Patricia,

Sorry, but producing and maintaining this information is probably more work that it's worth. You will find that we have been working to improve the information about coded fields as the modules are released. Generally, Active/Inactive records are identified with an "A" or "I" in the field. Inventory was an exception that changed and so was updated to be consistent and support the hidden rows on the Grid.

Since our Partners know what information their customized reports reference, it's likely easier for them to check those dictionaries directly. An even quicker test is to print out a customized report prior to installing an Upgrade and make sure that the report contents haven't changed after the Upgrade is installed.

The issue I am referring here wouldn't have shown printing the report before and after because the Active field was copied to a new location and the information was changed on the new location. The issue started happening after new items were created and the old Active field was populated with an "I" even though the Item was active.
