I have a department which only has a description... no department. Under Edit Department, it appears as a description at the top of the list, the Department is grayed out, blank. No idea why it exists. The delete fails because it says it has active accounts. Which is only true in the sense that I thought it might consider any account without a department attached.

By using export/import with status, I changed all of the accounts to inactive, assuming then it might let me delete the non department/department. It still gives me the cannot delete error, has active accounts. ??

Under edit department; I made the department inactive and confirmed all related accounts inactive. Still the same result. Cannot delete department because it has active accounts attached.

Could perhaps just be left, but I am concerned about potential problems it may create by not removing it.

Data integrity check is clean.

You have a department "blank". Department "blank" is a valid department. So long as you have accounts in your chart of accounts with no department code assigned, you will not want to delete this department.

You are fine and don't have to do anything or worry about potential problems.
