Now that I've done a "clean" install of DataCare, to correct an error on closing the program, I lost half the programs that were in the DataCare Job List. When I open DataCare and click on Jobs/New there are only 4 programs listed:

Payables
Inventory
Order Entry
Sales Analysis

We're missing:

Gridview
Ledger
Purchase Order
Receivables
Toolkit

How do I get these programs back on the list?

We have discouvered that our solution created more problems than it fixed and we have restored our DataCare from a pre-cleanup backup. The problems you describe are only a small portion of the total issues incountered with the clean re-install.

DataCare works fine with the error, it's just an extra button to click on when you exit DataCare. For that reason I will leave the problem for Softrak to deal with but as they can't replicate the problem it may be some time before it gets resolved.

Our DataCare is completely down now. As I mentioned we're missing a bunch of programs from the list. Also, our jobs do not run through anymore. When our nightly integrity check attempts to run we get all these errors when it gets to OE.

* Unable to open data file terms, (1213)
* Attempting to perform operation on unopened terms file
* Unable to open data file customer, (1213)
* Attempting to perform operation on unopened customer file

Eventually I have to ctl-alt-del and end task to get out.

Obviously I would have preferred to be dealing with only the error on closing the program and still been able to use the program. How do I restore to that now? I completely uninstalled everything, then reinstalled from scratch. I have back ups. How do I resolve this?

I suggest you remove the posts where Softrak explains a "clean install" is the solution to the error, before anyone else does the same thing.

Restoring DataCare from the backup you should have made before doing a clean re-install should resolve your problem. The DataCare program is installed in x:\softrak\dcwin. Ust restore the dcwin folder.

Hi, Susan,

Doug has already posted that the reinstall did not resolve the problem as he had first thought it did.

The errors you are experiencing are due to mismatched files in your install now. The first thing you should do is reinstall your other applications.

You may want to contact your dealer first to give you a hand with this.

Try restoring your DataCare program folder first. Only re-install the applicatins as a last resort.

Apparently I don't have a back of the program folder from before I re-installed. The only good thing being that I am now correcting our back up system. So.. I guess I'll try re-installing all the applications instead. frown

When you say, "reinstall your other applications", I'm assuming you mean installing the programs again using the full version .exe files rather than using wksetup.exe. Can you confirm?

Yes you need to re-install the full version EXE files.

I've reinstalled my applications and all is good again. I've never been so happy to get an error back!

The only applications that are not in the list now are Gridview, Lanpak and Paymate. I am thinking that these are not suppose to be on the list. Can you confirm?
